1. Overview
UserToolbox ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website usertoolbox.com and its subdomains (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to it.
By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all pages and tools hosted under usertoolbox.com and its subdomains (e.g., wordcount.usertoolbox.com, pdf.usertoolbox.com). It does not apply to third-party websites or services that may be linked from our pages.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Automatically Collected Data (Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect aggregated, anonymised usage data. This may include:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Browser type, operating system, and device category
- Approximate geographic location (country / region level — derived from IP address; the full IP is not stored by us)
- Referrer URL (the page you came from)
- Events such as button clicks or tool interactions
Google Analytics data is processed under Google's own privacy terms. You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
3.2 Tool-Processed Data
All file processing and computation on UserToolbox is performed entirely within your browser. Files you upload (e.g., PDFs, images), text you type, or data you enter are processed locally and are never transmitted to our servers. We have no technical ability to access this information.
3.3 Feedback Submissions
If you use the in-tool Feedback widget, your selected issue type, optional description, and the current page URL are sent to our team communication system (Feishu / Lark). Feedback is anonymous — we do not collect your name, email, or IP address through this channel.
3.4 Cookies & Local Storage
We may use browser localStorage to persist your preferences (e.g., cached currency exchange rates, last-used settings) so that tools work faster on repeat visits. No personally identifiable information is stored in localStorage. Google Analytics sets its own first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) for session tracking.
4. Advertising
UserToolbox may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and other certified advertising partners. These partners may use cookies or web beacons to serve ads based on your prior browsing activity. We do not share any personal information with advertisers.
To opt out of interest-based advertising, visit aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.com.
5. How We Use Information
We use the data we collect solely to:
- Understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the Service
- Diagnose bugs and performance issues
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not:
- Sell, rent, or trade any data to third parties
- Build individual user profiles
- Use data for targeted marketing beyond what our ad partners do in aggregate
6. Data Retention
Google Analytics retains event-level data for 14 months by default. Aggregated reports may be retained indefinitely. Feedback submissions are retained for up to 12 months and then deleted.
7. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates the following third-party components:
- Google Analytics 4 — usage analytics (Privacy Policy)
- Google AdSense — display advertising (Privacy Policy)
- Cloudflare — CDN and DNS (Privacy Policy)
- Feishu / Lark — internal feedback notifications (anonymous)
- Open Exchange Rates / Frankfurter API — live currency rates (no personal data sent)
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Because we collect only anonymised analytics and do not maintain user accounts, we are generally unable to identify individuals in our datasets. For any privacy request, contact us at privacy@usertoolbox.com.
10. International Data Transfers
Analytics data processed by Google may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States or other countries. Google complies with applicable data transfer frameworks. By using the Service from outside the United States, you consent to any such transfer.
11. Security
All pages are served over HTTPS. Because tool computations occur entirely in your browser, there is no server-side storage of your files or inputs. We implement reasonable administrative and technical safeguards for data we do hold; however, no transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
